Steel Toe Tour!

Two Fridays ago Flop and I went out to St. Louis Park, MN to check out Steel Toe Brewing, and pick up some of their "Size 11" Double IPA and some growlers. We ended up sampling all the beers at Steel Toe and went on a brewery tour.  Towards the end of the tour, it became a Q&A session where a bunch of local homebrewers got to ask Jason (Owner/Brewer of Steel Toe) a bunch of great questions.  At the end of the evening we pick up a growler of Dissent, Rainmaker, a couple pint glasses, some t-shirts, and a whole bunch of 750ml bottles of Size 11!!!

Bold and complex from a tremendous amount of roasted malts, yet smooth and rich from the addition of oats. Dissent has its own opinion of what a dark beer should be.
  • Color: Black
  • Alcohol content by volume: 7%
  • International Bitterness Units: 50

When you find yourself parched, Rainmaker brings refreshment. Brewed with caramel and dark roasted malts then doused with a torrent of hops, this double red is sure to please, no dancing required.
  • Color: Copper
  • Alcohol content by volume: 6.5%
  • International Bitterness Units: 65
Ready to have a Size 11 boot print stamped into your taste buds? The intensity of the hop flavor and aroma in Size 11 will kick you in the face. We take prodigious amounts of hops and add them any chance we get to this Northwest style IPA. If you ever call Size 11 balanced we’ll kick you where it hurts (in the hop sack).
  • Color: 11 SRM
  • Alcohol content by volume: 11.0%
  • International Bitterness Units: 111

  1. Dude on Full Metal Jousting who got lanced in the hop sack could use a Size 11 to first chill and then numb the pain! Ha!
